Description

Fuggle was developed by Richard Fuggle (hence the name, as you’ll notice 😉 ) in Kent, UK, in 1861. Interestingly, it was initially used as a bittering hop, but it isn’t actually extremely bitter. Fuggle is often compared to and used in combination with Golding hops.

Characteristics : Primarily herbaceous and spicy. Woody on the palate. Minty.

Uses : English Pale Ales, Saison, Kölsch, Amber, Lambic, Stout

Acids :

  • Alpha: 2.4 – 6.1%
  • Beta: 2-3%
  • Cohumulone: ​​23-33%

Total oils : 0.44 – 1ml/100g

Possible substitutes : Fuggle US, Styrian Golding, Willamette
